You should know by now that podcasting is rapidly becoming a mainstream form of content consumption. It’s easy to find a podcast on virtually any subject out there, and getting started with becoming a podcaster yourself is also straightforward.
Personally, I think there will always be room for written content and guides, but podcasting does provide a new layer to learning things more effectively. Also, podcasts can be consumed on the go. Driving to work, going to the gym, even waiting in line. It’s much more efficient than having your eyes glued to the screen for reading.
With that said, just like any other subject or category, there are plenty of great WordPress podcasts to choose from. Some have been around for years, while others are only building an audience now. Either way, these podcasts are all about WordPress, Blogging, Marketing, and even the Development side of WordPress.
Why Listen to a Podcast?
If you haven’t gotten into podcasts yet, you might be wondering, what’s the point? While I agree that writing is great at conveying a specific tone, it’s not the same as having a real person talk and discuss a specific topic. In writing, a lot of stuff can be left out (emotion, tone of voice, etc.) and it can seem overly polished by the end of it.
Whereas with podcasts, you usually get a more raw experience. You can sense the feelings behind people’s experiences, their ideas, and most importantly, the stories they’re sharing. Furthermore, podcasts often explore areas that you simply can’t put inside a single blog post.
As such, podcasting provides a ton of interesting ideas in an easy to follow format. You can also expect each podcast to have a transcript provided. And some podcasters will even post interesting topics and links discussed in any given podcast. This gives you a chance to explore new topics without needing to constantly rely on Google or news sites.
Do You Need Any Software?
Other than your web browser, you don’t really need any software to enjoy podcasts. On a smartphone, you might be keen to download a podcasting app that will give you additional features. But, in most cases, you can simply stream podcasts directly from their website unless specified otherwise.
One thing to note about podcast apps is that they give you a more catalog-oriented experience. You can favorite, save, and even type out notes for individual podcasts. Also, you can explore popular podcasts outside of topics like WordPress alone.
Two of my favorites would have to be Spotify and iTunes. Both platforms specialize in providing podcast services, and you can find a ton of interesting episodes on any topic imaginable.
The Most Popular WordPress Podcasts
For the following list of WordPress podcasts, we’re focusing on both the learning aspect and also the educational aspect of WordPress. So, expect podcasts that explore WordPress in-depth, but also plenty of episodes for learning about the latest happenings.
As said earlier, the great thing about podcasts is that you can go back in time. An episode a year ago might be discussing a topic that’s relevant to you today, and all you have to do is tune in!
#1: Hello WP
This is an interesting project we’d like to highlight. Although no new episodes have been released for Season 1, we feel that Hello WP exemplifies the usability of podcasts. The project is intended as an all-in-one resource for WordPress beginners. Each episode (of which there are 6) discusses a unique aspect of WordPress and why it’s important.
For example, the “Hello, Gutenberg!” episode talks about the new block editor that WordPress introduced in 2018. The entire episode is around 50 minutes long, taking a close look at what makes this editor so special, and how users can benefit from understanding it fully.
If you have ever thought about branching out your existing content, an approach like this seems like a great idea. You can tailor your web design to match a quirky learning theme, and your episodes naturally stay relevant as you provide evergreen content.
Recommend this site to all your readers and friends who are only now getting started with WordPress. You won’t find a better resource that explains technical topics in an easy to understand manner.
#2: Elementor Talks
We know Elementor as one of the world’s leading page building plugins for WordPress. Without a doubt, the brand has taken a very steadfast approach with its growth. And with great success, we might add. The Elementor Talks podcast is a talk show in which Elementor employees discuss important topics. Both inside and outside of WordPress.
In one of their latest episodes, “Dribbble Growth” — Elementor is sitting down with Michael Sacca (the VP of Product at Dribbble) and discussing the platform’s growth curve. The episode covers how Dribbble got to the point where they are today, and how others can learn from their experience.

#3: WordPress Weekly
WP Tavern is a staple name in WordPress. The community news site has been operating for more than a decade. And, they also run their own podcast called WordPress Weekly. Essentially, this is a podcast dedicated to discussing all the latest things happening with WordPress.
Whether it’s new core changes, plugin implications, or security advice — if it matters, this podcast will do a damn good job at covering it for you. So, if you haven’t yet found a reliable source of all your latest WordPress news, then this podcast is a must-listen!

#4: WPMRR
The WPMRR podcast is for all you bloggers looking to make an extra buck with your content. The MRR, in this case, stands for Monthly Recurring Revenue, which is the sole focus for this podcast. Christie, who manages Caldera Forms, and Joe, who manages WP Buffs, are both highly experienced WordPress users. Not only they work with WordPress on a daily basis, but they’re also successful with their endeavors.
To help grow their own brand, they decided to start a podcast around the idea of spreading information about earning money with your content. And as broad of a topic, as it is, both manage to find an approach that’s down to earth and easy to listen to. Expect episodes that discuss client happiness, launching a product, or optimizing your site.
The average episode is around 40-minutes long. You’ll find the full list of episodes on the WPMRR website. Some of which are invaluable as they cover the basic ground of growing yourself as a blogger and a creator.
#5: Women in WP
If you’re looking for something more specific, and you’re a woman, then here are Women in WP. A podcasting initiative which gives voice to exceptional women who use WordPress and beyond. There’s no reason why you couldn’t listen to this podcast as a guy either. There are plenty of great topics being discussed in each episode.
Want to learn how to build a business? There’s an episode for that. Want to teach WordPress for a living? There’s an episode for that too! You can also sign up to become a guest on the show yourself. And that’s a great way to get some extra exposure for any interesting ideas you’ve been working on.
#6: PressForward
WP&UP is dedicated to raising awareness of mental health within the WordPress community. The brand focuses on many different areas of helping people with their problems. And one of the ways of giving back is through their PressForward podcast series.
This series focuses on all kinds of WordPress topics, and not just mental health or charity work. Most episodes are deeply personal, with a lot of personal experience reports shared from hosts and guests. Expect to learn a thing or two about running a business, as well as doing things like talking at events.

#7: Developer Tea
Do you develop with WordPress? Are you a developer in general? If so, you’re going to love the Developer Tea podcast. It’s a bite-sized show which focuses on critical developer tips in as little time as possible. Not only that, but the host Jonathan also shares his opinions on the mental and emotional aspects of being a developer.
What do you do when you get stuck? How do you manage projects when nothing seems to be moving forward? It might inspire you to think of new ideas when you see that others are going through the same problems as you.
#8: WP Gears
Did you know that WP Gears has more than 600 episodes? Well, if you didn’t, you definitely do now. An interesting fact to note is that WP Gears podcasts are very short. In fact, each episode is around 7-10 minutes long. These are perfect whenever you’re looking for new ideas or inspiration on a topic that you’re working on.
The main areas that this podcast focuses on is WordPress, Business, Development, and Design. There are a lot of episodes that talk about clients, managing your clients, but also running a successful business.
Expect your hosts to mention their sources and interesting sites to visit in each episode. For one, WP Gears provides a lot of opportunities for taking notes and implementing that information in your own content.
#9: Matt Report
The Matt Report has more than 200 episodes on record! This spectacular podcast series focusing on all-things creation and business. Whether you’re a freelancer or an owner of an agency, you’re surely going to find an episode that speaks to your soul. Matt himself is a product creator and loves to discuss his approaches in tacking certain launch problems.
Furthermore, expect episodes with revered people such as Paul Jarvis, Ryan Sullivan, and many others. Also, if you take an episode page such as this one, you’ll see that each episode is supplemented with a lot of information. E.g. The WordPress Kitchen Sink is a WordPress podcast started by Adam Silver. It was born entirely out of the desire for Adam to share his learnings with WordPress. And, over the years, Adam has produced nearly 300 unique episodes. These episodes cover everything from basic blogging, to more intricate topics such as business success, leadership, and more.
Similarly to other podcast hosts, Adam also tries to cover the essentials of his episodes in the published post. You’ll find tool recommendations, interesting articles, and notable events happening in WordPress. Although most episodes are relatively short, you’ll find a few long ones that really give you a perspective on a specific topic.
#11: WP Water Cooler
Jason Tucker brings you a weekly episode of podcast series that discusses all-things WordPress! And more often than not, he does so with other creators. In the host’s rotation, you’ll find names like Se Reed, Russell Aaron, Jason Cosper, and Steve Zehngut.
The episodes are varied in their style and approach. Expect to find the latest news updates, interesting WordPress topics, and of course, a little bit of business. WP Elevation is a brand that provides business training for WordPress consultants. However, it’s not their services we’d like to promote for this post. Rather, it’s their podcast series which is also called The WP Elevation Podcast. This series is divided into six sub-categories.

Like we mentioned at the beginning of this article, a lot of podcasts tend to steer in a specific niche direction. And this is exactly the case with WP Tonic. This podcast, while WordPress oriented, is focused entirely on business owners who work within the field of online courses and LMS.
The podcast covers everything from the basics to advanced marketing tips for those looking to expand their growth. Needless to say, with more than 400 episodes, you’re going to get up to speed fairly quickly. Additionally, WP Tonic operates a blog which provides further tips and advice on how to make more bang with your buck.
